As the national discourse has descended into hardened positions, name-calling, insults and shouting down your opponent have become the norm, I engaged in a discussion with one side to gain insight to what they were thinking, and why.
Keep your voice down out of respect, but Trump yells on TV and you support that.
Each side is stupid
The nation is divided into Trump supporters vs. Trump haters; there is also another group of ardent believers in the Sanders movement mostly unnoticed.
During the framing of the Constitution, they also disagreed, shouted, and stamped their feet in opposition to one another. But they did something else -- to create a social document like no other: they listened, they discussed, and they compromised to ensure all sides were represented.
Today we seem to be in a winner-take-all-all mentality, resulting in everyone losing.
Trump lies and his supporters parrot Trump that everyone else is liars. It seems to be a merry-go-round that's anything but merry.
